I wrote this piece exactly 2 years back and was a note on my facebook page. Not only that not much has changed, the freedom tree has even consumed more blood. What a shame, and like someone who read this sometime last year. I weep for Nigeria but i will not stop at weeping, i will work out my crying that my offspring might not continue the lamentation. Happy Independence.

The Freedom Tree

Seriously I didn't want to write anything today, for fear of being off , angry, sad or just terrible, but the happenings sure makes it imperative for me to do something.
I woke up early this morning hoping to pray and fast for a lead on my Nigeria today and tommorrow but God said sorry no, at around 3am, a bit later than I desired to wake, God said , weep not son,
"If MY PEOPLE, that are called by name shall humble themselves and pray, IF you and I shall turn from our wicked ways , God will hear from heaven above and he will heal our Land.
I woke up sad for the kidnapped pupils of Abayi International School in Osisiona Aba, Abia State Nigeria, pupils who became victims of a challenged Nation where Kid-napping had taken its full course and was indeed now kid kid napping.
I was sad cause Mr Jo's children were not there , so they were not so important, and four days after even the news had almost forgotten them, I was scared, the euphoria of a celebration had enveloped us.
I started posing and posting for their release and God be praised they were released, under what conditions and in what true conditions I cannot tell, but news has it they are in perfect condition, What about the trauma?, what about the pain?, what about the hunger ? These are kids ranging from 3yrs old upward.
Well, that was not just all, The Militants, this time around MEND, gave Nigeria, a suprise birthday cake, the worst ever , a tragedy, a reason to weep, they chose to kill and massacre , !!!! Innocent lives via a blast near the Ministry of Justice in Abuja, Lord Have Mercy, my heart bleeds, but what can I say, what can I do, I m writing yes and we see what next.
Then to my chagrin, Mr President through his mouthpiece has said something that has ravaged my mind since reading it; Although he mourns with the families of those who lost their lives and are mourning, when the nation is celebrating, but he wants them to know the people did not die in vain, THEY HAD USED THEIR BLOOD TO WATER THE TREE OF FREEDOM.
I am then quick to ask myself, the blood of these to water the tree of FREEDOM, this NIGERIAN TREE OF FREEDOM, must have grown very big cause it feeds on blood and has never lacked blood.
Let me not mention names of the people whose blood it has sucked,the thousands of heroes watering the tree with their blood from 1960 till date, the politicians, the human right activists, the honest writers and reporters, Haba Tree of Freedom!!!!
I am afraid if the kidnappers killed the 15 pupils, the tree of freedom would also be blamed for their blood.
When next somebody dies in Nigeria , tell them via Mr Jo, that their blood was used to water the TREE of FREEDOM.

N.B: I hope the gardeners of the freedom tree who find water for it, in this case blood, don't get me for this article , so the tree can be watered, God forbid, Let the tree die, We have had enough sacrifices to this evil tree!!!!!
